I will be posting my research, links and progress here on my Nålebinding wool gloves and socks. If possible I will also make a hat and neck covering.
I am learning the Oslo Nålebinding stitch. I plan to make my socks and mittens using the wool that I will spin from raw Icelandic Sheep fleece. I will need to wash, card/comb and spin into thick, single-ply yarn.
"Hald's Type IIa
Nordland's notation calls this 4[12]. Hansen's notation calls this stitch UO/UOO F1. Larry Schmitt calls it "Oslo stitch." As Viking nålebinding goes, this is a commonly occurring stitch, with at least three known and geographically disparate examples, all mittens. " SOURCE
Nålebinding (Danish: literally "binding with a needle" or "needle-binding", also naalbinding, nålbinding or naalebinding SOURCE
