The meaning of "S \" and "Z /" when marked on the turning pattern
"
I understood it's to tell us when the pattern needs us to flip/switch the cards from "S \" to "Z /"' or "Z /" to "S \" in order to change the angle/direction of the outer surface stitch that we see. This makes diagonals look smoother or better when you use the correct slant (S orZ) and not look choppy or pixelated.
The direction that we turn a card or pack/set of cards, forward or backward, determines what direction the diagonal line(s) will go.
I think rotating card(s) forwards, the lines slant from left-to-right
and rotating the card(s) backwards, the lines slant right-to-left.
